About LCYAC
Mission
The Latah County Youth Advocacy Council (LCYAC) is youth, families and community organizations collaborating to reduce youth substance use in Latah County.
History
In 2000, the Parents and Youth Orginization for the Future (PAYOFF) Program formed to "improve communty support systemes and encourage healthy development of Latah County." In 2005, the orginization applied for and received a five-year Drug-Free Communites Support Program Grant (DFC) under its current name, the Latah County Youth Advocacy Council. LCYAC received a second five-year DFC grant in 2010. LCYAC is a county-wide resource that assessess, educates and provides Latah County with posative development opportunites.
Goals
The Youth Ambassador Program includes youth leaders in Moscow, Potlatch, Genesee, Troy, Kendrick-Juliaetta and Deary. Each ambassador takes a pledge to be drug and alcohol free and represent their community as positive role models for their peers.

- Help communites assess local needs, choose strategies and implement evidence based drug prevention programs.
- Address factors that contribute to high risk behaviors.
- Develop effective community coalitions.

Youth Ambassador Application
Applications are closed at this time but to help you prepare for next year, here is what you'll need:
- Should be: A student registered at a Latah County high school and be entering grades 9-12 in the upcoming school year.
- Letter of recommendation: From a trusted adult, may be a from a teacher, coach, advisor, community member or employer, but may not be from a relative.
- Resume: Please include personal information so we know who you are (name, grade, school, home address, email, phone number, and parent contact information) as well as experience in clubs, organizations, sports, jobs, community service, and anything else you think is important.
- Student letter of intent: Please explain to LCYAC why you would be a good fit for the Youth Ambassador Program. We would love to hear ideas you have about improving your community and/or school. Be as creative as you would like, let us get to know you!
