It's time to start thinking about what talent you want to showcase at the 5th annual Awards Night and Talent Show! This year, the event takes place on April 25 at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre. Applications for the talent, art, and awards portion of the show are due March 2. The talent and art shows are open to Latah County students in grades K-12. Auditions for the show are March 23 in Moscow.
Feel free to nominate a community member or group for one of our four prestigious awards (Commissioners, Community Service, Leadership, and Lynn Cameron Awards). Award winners will be announced at the show on April 25. Applications can be found here. We look forward to seeing you all at this year's show! Do you have prescription medications sitting around your house from when you had surgery, THREE YEARS AGO? Saturday, April 30th, City and County law-enforcement will manage each of five drop-off locations throughout Latah County where they will collect unwanted or unused prescription drugs.
This program is a part of the National Prescription Take-Back event by the Drug Enforcement Agency. The National Prescription Drug Take-Back event addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Many people are not aware that medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to misuse and abuse. Currently there is an opioid epidemic in the United States as the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses climbs due to these drugs. Studies show that many abused prescription drugs are obtained from family members, friends and home medicine cabinets. The best way you can help is to spread the word in your communities. If you are a physician or pharmacist, encourage your patients to drop off their un-used or expired medications, talk to friends the family members about participating;. the more prescription drugs collected on this day the safer Latah County communities will be as a result! The 2016 Awards Night & Talent Show has a new date this year, March 3! We are excited about the date change and really hope this opens up the possibility for even more participation from Latah County youth this year.
Applications can be found on the LCAYC website Click Here. Also keep an eye out at your schools and the Moscow Pullman Daily News for applications. Can't wait for this year’s show to see all the very talented youth we have in Latah County and of course to award those people who make a difference in our communities!
